Al Arabi Publishing and Distributing was established 39 years ago, crowning the efforts of Ismail Abdel Hakam and his 43 years of work in the business. Sherif Ismail Bakr – a graduate of the faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University – has taken over the family business since 1997, along with his sister, Ranya Bakr. Their determination is to further develop the business and improve the quality and diversification of Al Arabi’s books production, thanks to their skills and international experiences in publishing. Sherif Bakr is now a board member in the Egyptian Publishing Association and head of the Development and epublishing committee having spotted the chance of bridging the Arab civilization and the Arab World (over 400 million inhabitants) with the rest of the world, his aim is to build those bridges based on books and culture.

Al Karma is an independent, young and dynamic publisher based in Cairo and distributing all over the Arab world. Founded in December 2013 by publishing professionals with years of experience in the Arab market, Al-Karma publishes original and translated quality fiction and non-fiction books that impact the reader’s life. It is already the home of some of Egypt’s bestselling and award-winning authors such as Ibrahim Essa, Ahmed Khaled Towfik, Mohamed El Mansi Qandil, Tamer Ibrahim, Ahmed Alaidy and Mostafa Zikri.
